I'm Kelsy. I'm a nurse. I work the night shift on a crazy surgical unit and you would not believe the stuff that happens when sick people sleep. To hear more about that and other stories read on....

"Patience Iago."

This is a famous quote to me.  From Aladdin.  Do any of you know this?  This is when Jafar tells his pet parrot to wait until the timing is right and then they will trap Aladin and steal his beautiful princess and kingdom.  Yes, for a while Aladdin was one of my favorite of Disney.
My wonderful friend Julie posted a few days ago about patience and it really stuck with me.  I'm not a very patient person.  I always feel like I'm waiting for something to happen, to find something that will quench my impatience.  Maybe I just want too many things.  Wow.  That's sounds awful.
I tell myself, you've been good and patient and now it's your turn, for whatever the want may be.  But really patience is waiting without knowing when the waiting will be over.
Here's a few definitions:

1.the quality of being patient as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.
*Oh if only I could not get annoyed or complain, would you agree Mother Dear.  Sorry for the complaints
2. an ability or willingness to suppress restlessness or annoyance when confronted with delay
*"confronted with delay?" umm, yeah.  Delay is dumb.  Where did instant gratification go?
3. quiet, steady perseverance; even-tempered care; diligence
*This one gets me.  So true.  Quiet.  Steady. Diligence.  Lord, give me this.

How can I be this way.  Waiting for so many things.  It seems selfish.  The perfect job.  The perfect man.  The perfect town.  The perfect place in life.  Many of these things we have control over and it's about our attitude and how we approach them.  If we choose to not wait and make things happen for ourselves.  Take our God-given talents and DO.  Others things we wait for are totally out of our control.  We have to sit and wait.  Twiddle our thumbs and just let it be.
What an uplifting post. [Insert sarcasm here] I hope some of you have issues with this too, so I won't feel like such a impatient parrot.  Do you?  Please tell me, so we can be annoyed and suppress our restlessness together.

Here a couple great quotes I found to encourage us impatient creatures:
"Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves.  Do no now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them.  And the point is to live everything.  Live the questions."
        -Rainer Maria Rilke

"All human wisdom is summed up in two words- wait and hope."
        - Alexandre Dumas Pere

I loved the quote. As soon as I saw it on my sidebar, I cracked up. I know exactly where this is in the movie.

You are not alone. Especially not today. Sometimes the waiting seems unbearable and whatever wisdom or lesson we are supposed to be learning seems totally NOT worth it.

The only thing I have found, other than Scripture, is to remind myself that I will not have this day again. It will be gone and someday I might be wishing for it back. Once it's spent, it's spent. That said, I have to admit to some tears of frustration at WAITING this week. It is just so hard.

PS - I loved your comment on the word verification. Mine was troingni. ???

Oh Kels - ahh yes how wise Disney movies can be adn yes Joel and I watch Aladdin often as that is his favorite Disney movie and had a big crush on Jasmine haha!! Anywho you are not alone on this one my friend. And perhaps we are not supposed to be "learning a lesson" in times of patience at all perhaps patience in itself is the lesson just simply being and living in the now rather than focusing on our wants and the future. I found the following two quotes the first one is just peaceful and the second one made me laugh but here ya go....

Adopt the pace of nature: her secret is patience. ~Ralph Waldo Emerson

One moment of patience may ward off great disaster. One moment of impatience may ruin a whole life. ~Chinese Proverb
