Fingerprints

I had to go to the local sheriff's department today.  To get my nursing license transferred to another state and I had to get some fingerprints done.  The sheriffs department just happens to be the local detention center.  It was unnerving.
When I got there I had to push a special button and get buzzed into the building.  They looked at me through a camera in the wall.  Then when I got up to the next floot, it was just a slim hallway where my prints would be done.  Several doors were on one side of the hallway.  Visiting areas.  There was a visitation going on at the time.  Lots of yelling, curse words, and a lady kept coming into the hallway, pacing.  The fingerprinting man said, "Ignore her."  Am I sure this is the right place?
Just then a man came off the elevator into the hallway.  He said "I need to change my address.  I was in 'lalaland' and now am back and haven't changed my address."  The fingerprinting man says, "Well, sir, that is a felony and I may have to put you in an orange suit right now.  Let me check to see if I put a warrant out for your arrest yet?"  I'm guessing the man was on parole?  I'm thinking, "Um can we save the drama until after I've left?"  I seriously thought the guy was going duck at run at that point and I was going to stuck in the middle of a gun fight.  (ha, who's being dramatic now?)
The fingerprinting man then went on to tell me all about the craziness of the detention center and how people can get a little crazy at times, all while my hand is in his and he's doing the fingerprints.  There was no escape.  Again, I'm thinking, "Oh that's great.  I'm here in the local detention center, a measly little old me, five feet away stands a man who technically is under arrest, and you want to chat?"
So if you ever have to get your fingerprints done at the local jail.....be prepared.
