I Bought a CAR.

It seems like the biggest purchase of my life.  Oh, that's because it is.  I've never written a check that big. I couldn't even make it fit on the line, and this car is no new super expensive BMW.  But it's mine.  My sweat and blood went into this car.  I saved all year.  It was time for an upgrade.  So here she is.  2003 Subaru Outback with  77,000 miles on her.  She's smooth, has power windows and heated seats.  I'm in love, but not really.
I've been reflecting on the relationship I have with my car.  Yes, you're right, that does sound weird.  But when you're a single girl who knows nothing about cars and the fear of breaking down on the freeway is enough to call your dad every twenty miles, it's a big deal.  My old car and I went through growing pains together.  When I first got that subaru impreza I used to drive, I always thought something was wrong with it.  Every time I came home I'd tell my dad, "Do you hear that?" or "How do I know when something is wrong?"  I would constantly want my dad to fix something so that I could rest assured it was working the way I wanted it to before I drove off.  Needless to say, my dad got frustrated.  Then after a while, like 2 years, I finally started trusting the Sooby Booby, as I liked to call her.  She never once broke down for me, and only once didn't start.  I never had any major problems with her.
Now I have this new car, and I don't trust her yet.  I'm building up my faith in her getting me the places I need to be without any break-downs or having to stand on the side of the road waiting for some cute boy to pull over and help me change a flat tire.
So I'm building a relationship with my car.  Hence why my cars have always had names.  And I know I'm not the only one who does that.  Any ideas on good names?  I'm thinking.....Sally the Sooby, Chili, The Boob II?  What's your vote?

Isn't she a good-looking car?

She is definitely good looking! Congrats to you and her! Let the name "happen." Give her time to express her personality.

Nice work! I think it's funny that she's roughly the same color (or at least looks like it in the picture!) and I am so so jealous of your heated seats. :) I agree with Sue - let the name happen. Nelly was the only car I've had with enough personality to get a name. :)

Hurray for buying a new car! You are way ahead of Bryant and I in that department :) She's a beauty!

Chili sounds pretty good, but maybe you just need to give her time and she will develop her own name.

Congrats Kelsy! You should be very proud of yourself! My vote is for Ruby Suby, but I am biased. Can't wait to see you soon!

I love it Kels! That's how I am always worried if the ol' corolla will break down. Dad's are great aren't they!!! :) Especially Dil-avid and Gary! Well what a shiny, pretty new car. Can't wait to see it on our Jackson Hole vacation! love you

Give it some time, and soon you'll be able to decide on the car's worth, and it's name. Always remember to care for it regularly. Let your dad check the status of your car, see if the tires and engine are okay. By doing so, you'll be sure that your drive is doing okay and you'll be able to decide if you like your car or not.
