I'm Kelsy. I'm a nurse. I work the night shift on a crazy surgical unit and you would not believe the stuff that happens when sick people sleep. To hear more about that and other stories read on....

Fireworks...

Montana doesn't have laws about fireworks. Just that sentence seems wrong. I don't know what they were thinking when they set that all up, but obviously, they weren't. So basically what I'm getting at is that on the 4th of July, and exactly 9 days leading up to the 4th, fireworks have been going off in and around my neighborhood quite frequently. And if you don't know me, you should know I don't like loud noises. Hence, fireworks.
What is the point of fireworks anyway? I know people think they are beautiful, but come'on, there are way more beautiful things than that in the world. Or what about those fireworks that don't even let out light or sparkles, they just make loud booms. Really people, was it that cool to set that off? For some reason, as I'm sure you can tell, I'm bitter about the last few nights of sleep I haven't had, thanks to the darn fireworks. Now I know it's a free country, that's exactly what fireworks are celebrating, but isn't there some other way. Maybe next year we can put the money spent on fireworks (ah hem $128 million each year) towards Alzheimer's research or send it to a refugee camp in Sudan. What do you think of that idea, crazy Montana neighbors?
*************************************************************************************
So this year, I sat on my porch, watched the fireworks show, while all my the houses around me were putting on their own show. My chest shook, my eyes blinked, and every now and again one would catch me off guard and make me jump a little. Sure they're mezmerizing, put aside all the chemicals and pollution we release into the air when we set them off. Okay, I'm done, I'll stop.
Oh, but what about all the stupid things people do on July 4th? Drink too much, put a firework where it shouldn't be, then light it? True story. Let's just say, I'm so glad I didn't have to work over the holiday weekend. Hey that's something positive I just said. I guess this is where all the rambling comes in.
Like I said, I don't like fireworks, but I hope you all had a fabulous time, and I'll still be your friend, even if you did set off a few fireworks. Oh and by the way, sparklers are totally cool.

I did not know that you didn't like fireworks! Poor Kelsy! I am sure that it would not surprise you to know that Mike REALLY enjoyed setting off a ton of fireworks while we were in Pullman, another place with no rules :) I agree, sparklers are perfect. Miss you!

Yeah, it's a little crazy there. More so than other places. :) But at least you found one positive thing...not having to deal with a patient who blew his hand off while drunkenly setting off fireworks...that's something, right? Love ya!
